Year 3/4 Foamy Science Experiment!

In Year 3/4 Science, we have been learning about heat and to further explore this concept, we learnt about exothermic reactions during an investigation today.

An exothermic reaction is a chemical reaction that releases heat.

We all took safety very seriously, by making sure we
wore the proper safety equipment. This included a pair of  goggles for each student, gloves and also conducting our experiment outside to protect our lovely carpet!
Thanks Mr Roberts for lending us the goggles!

We loved seeing the result of the chemical reaction taking place. Watch the video
below to see for yourself!

After observing the reaction, the students were able to wear gloves and touch the bottle to feel the heat, which was the result of an exothermic reaction taking place.

It was such a fun lesson and we are all looking forward to our investigation next week!

The ANZAC Spirit Lives On

It was wonderful to see students prepare for our school ANZAC Assembly. Mr Roberts and Mrs Crane organised a fitting tribute to the ANZAC tradition that is important to so many. I'll add photos to this on Monday.

For Christians, the reminder of Jesus Christ's sacrifice of His own life for us is humbling as we hear about the death of so many brave soldiers during the invasion of the beach at Gallipoli. Romans 3:25 says, "God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement through the shedding of His blood - to be received by faith."

ANZAC Day causes us to remember and be grateful.

Mr Roberts, our Secondary Coordinator, wrote:

Our ANZAC service was held last Friday.

The showers from earlier in the day eased and the whole school was able to assemble outdoors around the flag pole. Together we shared with visiting parents in a solemn time of remembrance . Michael Christian spoke about Lone Pine and the tree which will be planted at Emmanuel.

The Year 8 band played Abide with Me, Lucy King read an excerpt from the poem In Flanders Fields and each of our primary classes laid a wreath which they had made. This outdoor service in memory of those who have served in times of war is a great tradition at Emmanuel and the students are to be congratulated on the appropriate tone in which they participated. Many thanks must also go to Mr David Hardstaff who once again played a pivotal role in making the bugle calls either side of our minute of silence.

It was wonderful to stop and check out the mirrors on display in the Secondary Foyer. Please come in and see the work the students in 9/10 Technology have done. There are others not included here.

Well done students and Mr D Roberts.

Term 2 - Welcome back to School!

On behalf of the Staff and School Council I am pleased to be able to welcome everyone back to Emmanuel Christian School for Term 2. There is a lot of work to be done by us all but what a privilege to serve Jesus Christ in this lovely school.

Staff and available School Council member met at the start of term
to commit this school into God's hands and seek His blessing.
It was wonderful to share from Lamentations with staff and Council members this morning about God's blessings being nerw every morning.

Secondary School modernisation has continued with Mr Luke Roberts complting the purchase of long ottomans for the GPLA foyer/corridor area. The colour and open, welcoming feel is tremendous.

Have a great term, everyone!
